Queen of Hearts
Death Note and Jigoku Shoujo are similar in few aspects.

1) they kill the "bad" people

2) the killing is not at random, but hand picked...

3) the killing is done/ brought by some being from a dark world (ex: Hell)

4) The killer/ requester of murder does not go to heaven

5) It kind of makes you feel relieved that there are people out that feels the same way with you (people who made the anime?), about just wanting to get rid of those who fail to be "good".

The number 5 is kinda shaky, I probably didn't word it right.

If anyone's going to be "Well, Yuki, there are various opinions of "good" and "bad". So why don't you define them for me, huh? Cuz what if murder to them is a "good" thing?"" I will put them personally on my Death Note. lol.

Nothing pisses me off than that argument above. Cuz then I ask:
"Do you have no sense of moral? Universally, killing = bad. People do it cuz it's a convenient, dirt cheap way of getting rid of those you don't want"

...and of course you know what's going to come after that.

"Well what if..."

...

*BANG*

Well, that was certainly "good" on my terms, but "bad" to everyone else, wasn't it? Yay I just got rid of someone I hate, that annoyed me, whatever. In a way brought justice by getting rid of another who makes life harder for everyone. But Boo I just killed someone from another family, brought sadness upon them, raised the funeral costs and taxes and whatnot, and I just TOOK AWAY A LIFE. Now why is that last sentense such a difficult concept to grab for some people?

Even if you don't believe in God or Buddha or Hell and Heaven, and don't believe you are punished for your sins or whatever, and even if you are Satanist, that concept still should be commonsense.

YOU DO BAD, YOU'RE PUNISHED. Kindergarten math.
I believe there's a reason people are punished for committing a crime. There's that one reason that people just fail to see and recognize, even though it's right in front of them, dangling before them...

It's kinda like 'truth', you know? They're unfortunately hard to find. And appear at the most unfortunate times. That little rascle.

...

And so I went off tangent.
The point of that?

Umm... killing is bad. lol

So anyways. Death note and Jigoku Shoujo has a way of making me feel relieved, cuz with Death Note, the intention of Light at first was to make a perfect world without crimes. I didn't really care about the part where he would be God, but you know, people always dream of a world without crimes. And you know like the ending of DN, it fails. The process of accomplishing that dream was a crime, mass murder, a genocide. But the concept probably appealed to many.

Of course if something like Death Note existed in this world, and someone smart and cunning as Light got into possession of it, the world's population will decrease dramatically.

With Jigoku Shoujo, you're basically just getting revenge. But so far to the point I've watched, the people that was being sent to hell had actually committed a sin or crime. Obviously there's bad intention on both sides, and as karma works, the avenger had to have done something wrong, whether it was considered good or bad. Again, it's plucking out the bad people from society.

The concept itself is actually criminal... but funny, it's appealing, if you've ever looked at someone and asked, "why is that guy/girl allowed to exist?"

Plus Jigoku Shoujo brings back the concept of Hell that has much been forgotten by many.

DISCLAIMER! WARNING!:
Now it's going to be a shaky subject, because it'll involve different beliefs. I hope I don't offend anyone with this, if there's even a possibility of being offended, don't read on. You can obviously tell which side of the spectrum I am on with this subject. And I am not directing this to anyone, just the world in general.

If an Athiest read this, they would (might?) say that Hell doesn't exist. Because you can't see it, can't prove it. (that's what they've told me so far... if you have a different reason, then please tell me)

...Aliens don't exist cuz you can't see it. What exist is only what you see..? You can't prove aliens... or places unreached by man in the rhelm of reality...

But of course, we can always easily find out whether heaven or hell exists or not!
...But it'll be a surprise after death lol

The disappearing concept of Hell and Heaven is leading to corruption of humanity, I believe. People don't believe you're going to be punished after death for the crimes you've committed when you were alive. So they fear nothing and do whatever, feeling over confident they can pass by the justice system. People believe nothing happens after death. Okay, that's fine. But with still the concept of commonsense and morals, that doesn't mean you should do whatever the hell you want and try to get your way.

People don't do "good" for the sake of it. They want rewards, something they can see and touch. The idea of "you'll go to heaven if you do good" doesn't appeal to them, because it's not tangeable. So what's the point of doing good if you don't see immediate results? Charity is just a waste of money, helping others is a waste of time. What does anything matter if it's not benefitting you? Apparently that's what some people thinks.

Funny how "good" and "bad" works. Killing gives you immediate results. Helping others takes time, and sometimes fail. But murder? Oh that's permanent. It never fails, unless you miss. It's not like they'll spring back to life after you've stabbed them in their vital spots a hundred times over. "Good" seems to take time with results sometimes unseen, and "bad" brings immediate results and quick to achieve.

I wonder which appeals to people?

Children now days aren't intruduced to the subject of Heaven and Hell as often as we were, or people in the past were, when religion wasn't a sin.
Is it this entire... Oh you have to be politically correct to your children and let them choose on their own what religion they want to pursue, kinda idea? or is it "religion will corrupt our children", idea?

If politically correct was a man, I would love to bitch slap it until every human who tries to push the idea of being politically correct on others would feel it. Oh, a violent idea. How politically incorrect of me.

These children fear nothing. Hell? Doesn't exist. Heaven? Doesn't exist. Seriously, whether the idea of religion is good or bad, applause to the parents who at least aren't afraid to take their children to church/ temple, and punish them if their children does something bad. There are too many parents out there who doesn't do shit when their kids go out there and steal, or freakin' kill a man. (But you know, everything has a line until they become too extreme. But we're ignoring that concept for now.)

All for the reason, "I don't want to hurt my child... I want him/her to like me"

I laugh, because their neglection is hurting their kids more, failing to discipline their own child.

I love how people HATE communism and dictatorship, but people love to dominate and control other people's lifes. The government (not just the National government, but groups, committees... the government in loose terms, anyone who holds authority over someone) loves to take control of individuals actions. Like the whole it's illegal to spank your children? I'm sure there was some good intentions behind it, but if fails in terms of personal freedom in how you discipline and punish your own child. I mean, sure they were targetting child abuse. What, government has to regulate how to raise your children now? Seriously, what has the world turned into?

Soon they'll regulate what you can eat, dress, the hours you sleep, and everything else in regards to how you life so that "the world can be a better, and safer place".

And not realize they've gone into the world of communism and dictatorship, and they'll be punishing those that fails to follow their rules. But, teach kids in schools that "communism is bad. Dictatorship is bad. It is a bad idea to control other people's lives because you're taking away their freedom. Okay, now let's take out our paper and pencils. Oh Johnny, it seems as if you have a green #2 pencil? You know the rules, it has to be a YELLOW #2 pencil. I'm afraid I'll need to send you to the principles office and make you write "I use yellow #2 pencil" a thousand times over on the white board with safe, washable black marker. In a mean while, your hair color sticks out from everyone. I've told you over and over, looking different offends people. You don't want people getting mad at you, right Johnny? Gotta look the same... uniformity. Now go, and come back soon!"

This whole thing started cuz people didn't like extremists. Religion ends up controlling other's actions. Discipline led to child abuse. Love ended up being... twisted, and now takes the definition of "satisfaction of physical needs". Looking good means being anorexic, looking like a slut, flirting with every boy/girl you see, and more man/lady you sleep with, the better. Being cool means acting ghetto.

And they try to regulate it. And you know how that's ending up to be.

Barbie was never a bad thing. The name "barbie" is just a name. But "Bratz Dolls"? and there was some other one I can't remember. But you're teaching kids that being a "brat" is better, and wearing suffocating amount of make-up shit at the age of 3 is good for you. Make your babies wear Thongs. Cuz Diapers? Omg those things are sooo gross. Ewww..

The idea of Natural beauty just died. Really, it did. The cosmetics industry must be in joy, however. In the next 5 years, all those girls (and guys) will be raiding the mall for black eyeliners and make up.

The idea of guys wearing black eyeliners was hot when it was still reserved for... good looking guys? But now with every man who loves to look "dark, mysterious, careless, anime, and/or emo" wearing black eyeliners and wearing more black and wearing even more black to the point they dye their hair black and I'm surprised they haven't colored their skin black....

...

now it's just cliche.

And I just brought up the subject of people who tries to look anime. I'll rant about that some other time.

This Deathnote/Jigoku Shoujo thing turned into a huge rant about humanity. I haven't done that in a while.

The point of this rant? ...mmm... I have problems with the society. lol. That should just sum up all of it nicely.

Anyways, breakfast time.
See you all later, and enjoy your sunday!

You'll see in the second season that the Hell Hotline isn't exactly a good thing. Anyway I agree with what you said until you said the we should teach kids punishment after death. Personally I don't believe in an afterlife but I believe in having the best time I can possible in the one life we have. I wouldn't kill anybody because that would ruin the fun and I wouldn't kill anyone since that would stain my moral character. Two bad things to me. Just a thought. I do hate me some politically correctness though. Parents should stop asking the government do their job for them.

Ah, I haven't gotten to the second season yet, I'm still on first season lol. So far it's pretty good, I'm liking it (^_^) I just saw the Hell boy episode. I wonder if he comes back? Cuz that'll be interesting lol

Haha, I dunno, I kinda let my thoughts run freely since I just woke up when I wrote it. Mmm... see, if only people thought like you, you know? It really doesn't matter whether a person believes in afterlife, as long as that person doesn't lose his/her sense of morality. I mentioned about the afterlife as one of the possibilities what may be happening...

I have nothing against people who doesn't believe in afterlife (^_^)

lol like I said, a shaky subject. Hope I didn't make you upset in any way.

I love your icon btw!
